Troy University celebrates Earth Week with events, recycling drive

TROY – Troy University students, faculty and staff are going green for Earth Week 2013 and taking a bite out of the University’s waste stream through a major recycling drive. Click here for the complete story.

EARTH WEEK 2013 - April 22-26

We are excited to celebrate Earth Week 2013 as we emphasize recycling and waste reduction at Troy University. As a part of these efforts, we are encouraging students, faculty and staff to join us in making an extra effort to recycle. The recycling guide below details what can be recycled. Blue recycling bags will be distributed to on-campus residents and University employees this week. With your bag, you can recycle in one of two ways:

  • Trailer Locations - Around campus there will be large blue recycling trailers located at the sites listed below. Simply take your recycling bag to a trailer during the week for drop-off. From there, the materials will be processed and recycled.

    Trailer Locations:
Main Quad (next to Adams Admin)
North Quad (next to Trojan Center)
    Trojan Village (in traffic circle)
Hawkins Hall (in back traffic circle)
Shakelford Quad (in center of green)
Fraternity Village (at the empty lot)
Sorority Hill (on the activity field)
  • On-site Pickup - Pick up will occur Friday, April 26 at 9 a.m. for on-campus residents and at 10 a.m. for University employees. Students, please place your blue bag outside your room in your residence hall no later than 9 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013. Employees need to place their recycling bags outside their office or in their department common area no later than 10 a.m. on Friday, April 26, 2013. Earth Week volunteers will collect and process the material. Please call 334-670-3203 or 334-808-6349 if you need an additional bag for your recycling efforts.
Additionally, we encourage you to make an extra effort to recycle in your day-to-day activities on campus. A listing of the permanent recycling points around campus can be found at
