Program Requirements & Sequence
- Obtain admission to Troy University.
High School Graduate: Submit an official American College Test (ACT) or Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and your high school transcript.
Transfer Students: Submit your official transcripts to Troy University, Office of Admissions, Troy, AL 36082. Contact an admissions counselor. Your admissions counselor is determined based on where you live. Go to the following link for more information: troy.edu/admissions/.
Maintain a 2.75 GPA or better throughout your general studies and ASL/ITP courses. While taking the general studies courses, begin taking American Sign Language courses. The following ASL courses offered are: ASL I, ASL II, ASL III, and ASL IV.
In order to register for any EDU courses with an exception of EDU 2200 and EDU 3364, an SLPI (Sign Language Proficiency Interview) rating of Intermediate Plus is required. SLPI evaluations are performed when scheduled, or upon request.

Once achieving an Intermediate Plus or a higher rating on the Sign Language Proficiency Interview, the student can petition for acceptance in the Interpreter Training Program by sending a copy of the relevant certification or SLPI required rating letter to:
Interpreting Training Program
Eligibility and entrance into the ITP provides access to the EDU sequence of courses. Upon successful review of paperwork, the student will then receive an ITP acceptance letter be cleared to take the courses in the EDU sequence toward graduation with an interpreter training Bachelor of Science.
