To prepare educators, administrators, counselors, interpreters and other professionals to be informed, innovative practitioners who are effectively trained to achieve the goals, competencies and skills identified by the accrediting and professional organizations specific for each program.
Specialized program accreditation is a voluntary, peer review process that ensures our programs meet and exceed levels of quality to the public, to other institutions and to potential employers. Our professional educator programs are nationally accredited through NCATE (National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education) and at the state level with certification programs which are approved by the ALSDE (Alabama State Board of Education). The counseling programs are approved for accreditation by CACREP (Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related Educational Programs). The rehabilitation program is accredited by CORE (Council on Rehabilitation Education). These accreditations add value not only to our programs but also to our graduates in that they can be recognized for the excellence and distinction they have achieved.
Troy University’s College of Education is historically the foundation of the university and we continue to uphold the traditions and values of teaching and advocate the sound clinical practices of all our graduates to reflect the university’s worldwide mission.
