Local community college students with an interest in business are invited to participate! This program is free of charge.
Lunch with Panel Discussion is included. The winner of the Business Essay Competition will be awarded a Transfer Merit Scholarship!
Participation is limited to the first 100 registrants.

Nature of Program:

The Purpose

If you have asked yourself questions of the following nature, then you should attend Career Exploration Day!

  1. What career path in business do I want to take?
  2. How can I get the most out of my educational experiences?
  3. What is the job outlook in various business fields?
  4. What local career opportunities are in demand now and will continue to be when I finish my degree?
  5. What exactly can I do with a degree in Accounting, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, Finance, or Information Systems?
  6. How can I best prepare now to gain the knowledge I will need to be successful in the future?
  7. What scholarships are available to me as a transfer student?
  8. How do I apply for financial assistance to fund my education?
  9. Exactly what classes do I need to take to get an Accounting or Global Business degree?
  10. What would a typical work day look like for a(n) _________ (e.g., Accountant)?

Career Exploration Day is a professional event where community college students interested in majoring in Accounting or Global Business with concentrations in either Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, Finance, or Information Systems will come to Troy University, Dothan campus to talk with professionals about the work they do and get answers to questions about careers available to their major. Career Exploration Day is not an internship or a job fair. It is, however, an opportunity for students to gain knowledge about career options, as well as the occupational outlook and expected salary. Participants will also have an opportunity to meet with professors, alumni, current students, and professionals in various stages of their careers.

Business Essay Competition participants will also have an opportunity to compete in a Business Essay Competition. The winner of the Business Essay Competition will be awarded a Transfer Merit Scholarship to attend Troy University's Dothan campus. See the Business Essay Competition document for complete details.

  • Essay submission deadline is Friday, April 13th.
  • The winner will be announced at the Career Exploration Day on Wednesday, April 25th.
  • Participation in the Business Essay Competition is encouraged but not required for attendance at the event.
