Dr. Allen joined the Troy faculty in 1993 as an adjunct on the Montgomery Campus.  In 2006 she joined the faculty as a fulltime Associate Professor, taking on the role of Department Chair in 2007, and Assistant Dean of Administration in the College of Arts and Sciences in 2012.  In April, 2013, Dr. Allen became the Division Chair of the Department of Social Sciences and relocated to the Troy Campus.  Her current research interests include AIDS and Aging, Death and Dying, Racial Issues in Society and Leadership Styles of Women.  Dr. Allen has supervised a number of student internships and integrates service learning in classes when possible.  Dr. Allen has presented over 40 papers at a variety of Sociology and Gerontology academic conferences and has three publications.
