Video Everywhere and YouTube Webcam Capture
The recording feature for the Video Everywhere tool within Blackboard and the YouTube Webcam Capture on the YouTube website will not be available after January 16, 2016. The decision to discontinue the YouTube webcam capture was made by Google/YouTube. Since Video Everywhere's recording functionality directly relies on the functionality of YouTube's Webcam Capture, you will no longer be able to use Video Everywhere to record videos within Blackboard. However, you still will be able to embed videos, which have already been recorded and uploaded to YouTube, using Video Everywhere and the YouTube Mashup. Click here to view a tutorial that shows you how to use the Video Everywhere tool to embed a YouTube video in your course.
There are other alternatives to recording videos. You can use software on your computer to record and save a webcam video, and then upload the video to YouTube. Popular software includes Photo Booth for Mac OS X and Camera for Windows 8+. If you have another OS, you may need to look up how to record videos using your webcam by referencing your device manual or searching online. If you have an iOS or Android phone, you can record videos with your phone's camera and upload them with the YouTube app. Click here to view this short YouTube video that discusses more options for recording videos. Google Browser Plugin Issues
Google's decision to disable NPAPI plugins by default in Chrome 42 will affect users accessing Blackboard Learn, as certain features and additions to Blackboard are dependent on NPAPI protocol support either directly or through the Java plugin, which also relies on NPAPI protocol support. Blackboard is exploring solutions to these issues. However, at this time the plugin will need to be manually enabled. For additional information on how to enable the plugin on the Google browser, click here.
