WRITING IMPROVEMENT

The TROY Library

In Module 6 of this tutorial, Additional Database Information Sources, you learn about the database named Learning Express Library. This database, provided by TROY, includes numerous learning tools, including those for Writing Skills Improvement. Because this resource is provided online, it is available 24/7 to students worldwide.

The Library also serves the traditional role of providing books to its patrons. Access to books is discussed in Module 3 of this tutorial. Briefly…

The Library Catalog can be used to look up both traditional print books, as well as those provided via online databases. Print books may be checked out directly from the Troy Library in which they reside, or, for students not located on a physical campus, may be available via the Library’s interlibrary loan service.

The database NetLibrary is one of several TROY-provided databases for eBooks (electronic books). NetLibrary includes books which can help students improve their writing skills. Titles within NetLibrary include Shortcuts for the Student Writer; Painless Grammar; The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Grammar and Style; Grammar in Plain English; Schaum’s Outline of English Grammar; When Bad Grammar Happens to Good People: How to Avoid Common Errors in English; McGraw-Hill Desk Reference for Editors, Writers, and Proofreaders.
