17. How can I find out if any other libraries have the article/book/video that I need?

You can check at http://worldcat.org where you put in the title of the item that you need and, once you've put in your zip code, WorldCat will tell you which local library has it. For many libraries, WorldCat will link you to their online catalog so that you can determine if the item is available and other information.

Depending on when you need the item, the AR librarian can often locate it in the local area.  If you don't have time to wait, often you can arrange to visit the library and check it out yourself.  Interlibrary Loans are available free of charge for needed materials, but it often takes a week or more for them to be shipped from the lending library.

Contact the librarian at swcornett@troy.edu or, in the continental United -States, 757-865-7880 or toll free 888-241-0277 or fax757-865-3295 with the citation for the required materials, contact information for yourself and the date that you need to have them.

21.  How do I get a consortium card of the local academic libraries has an item that I need right away won't check it out to me unless I have a consortium card.
Many academic libraries offer circulation to the public with proof of local address. Troy University's associate membership in the local academic consortium, The Virginia Tidewater Consortium for Higher Education, doesn't provide for reciprocal borrowing privileges for our students and faculty. We
do offer to reimburse you for Friends of the Library memberships that are available at several local university libraries. This will allow you to have special circulation privileges since the Friends support the upkeep of the library. If you decide to use this option, save your original receipt and take it to wherever you register for classes. You can be reimbursed for up to $50 per year for one Friend of the Library membership.

  22. I found a book/journal/video at the TROY site library.  How do I go about accessing it?
Contact the AR Librarian and she will either locate the same item in the local area (so that you can have it sooner) or will arrange to borrow the item from main site.
