Availability of Troy University Scholarships
Troy University scholarships are designated to recognize high school and junior or community college students who have excelled in academic and/or leadership capacities. These scholarships are awarded solely on merit. All students who have achieved scholastic or leadership recognition are urged to apply for the following as well as applicable departmental scholarships.
NATURE OF THE AWARDS
Scholarships are four-year awards for high school students and two-year awards for junior or community college students. The University Scholarship Committee makes the selections.
Beginning freshmen must apply during their senior year of high school or prior to August following high school graduation. Transfer students must apply during their tenure at their individual institutions from which they are transferring and must complete two years at the junior/community college. Awards will be based on post-secondary activities. Qualified students must accept and utilize the scholarship program prior to attendance at Troy University or any four-year college.

The American Chemical Society Scholars Program provides scholarships to high school seniors or undergraduates intending to or already majoring in chemistry with a 3.0 or better. Apply now for the scholars program designed to be a CATALYST for African American, Hispanic/Latino and American Indian students seeking to pursue undergraduate college degrees in chemical sciences and chemical technology. Application deadline is March each year.
The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants provides scholarships as well as internships to liberal arts students wishing to pursue graduate accounting study for the purpose of obtaining a CPA certificate. Scholarships are awarded based upon academic achievement, leadership, and career interests. Application deadline is April each year.
The Association of Insurance Compliance Professionals Up to three (3) $1,000.00 scholarships may be awarded annually for tuition and fees to an accredited educational institution. Disbursement of scholarships for tuition and fees will be made directly to an accredited educational institution. Scholarships are not renewable; however, a recipient may reapply. Applicant must be a full-time student, as defined by the educational institution, and have completed the first year and one semester of the second year in an accredited educational institution; must have declared their major course work to be in either the field of Actuarial Science, Insurance, Economics, Finance, Management, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, or Business-related field. A Graduate student who is working towards a Masters Degree in any of these majors is also eligible. Applicant must have a cumulative G.P.A. of at least 2.75.
The Bedsole Foundation provides scholarships as well as internships and Summer Leadership Programs to above average students from:

The Datatel Scholars Foundation Scholarships

The Datatel Scholars Foundation online scholarship application process consists of the following steps:
- A student attending Troy University may apply via the online application form between September 1 and January 31 each year. (NOTE: applicants must complete and submit an application in order to be considered for nomination.)
- The scholarship administrator from each participating Datatel client institution reviews, evaluates, and nominates applicants between February 1 and February 15.
- Nominated student applications are forwarded to the Datatel Scholars Foundation review committee for final evaluation and award determination in the spring.
- Scholarship recipients are posted on the Foundation's Web site in May.
All applications must be submitted online at www.datatel.com/dsf. Applications are available between September 1 and January 31.

The Datatel Scholars Foundation, an independent tax-exempt organization, awards scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students attending Datatel client institutions. Since its establishment in 1990, the Datatel Scholars Foundation has helped many deserving scholars meet their education goals by awarding almost 3,000 scholarships totaling nearly $4 million. The Datatel Scholars Foundation offers four unique scholarships, ranging in value from $1,000 to $2,500 to students attending eligible Datatel client institutions*:
Datatel Scholars Foundation scholarships are awarded to outstanding students currently attending Datatel client institutions.
- Angelfire scholarships honor military personnel soldiers who have served in the United States military during periods of combat. The Angelfire scholarship is presented to outstanding students who served in the Asian theater (Vietnam, Laos and/or Cambodia) between 1964 and 1975. Spouses and children of Vietnam veterans, and refugees of Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam are also eligible. In addition, scholarships are awarded to military personnel who have served in Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom and/or Operation Iraqi Freedom.
- Returning Student scholarships provide assistance to current outstanding students who have returned to higher education after an absence of five years or more.
- Nancy Goodhue Lynch scholarships are awarded to outstanding undergraduate students majoring in information technology-related curriculum programs.
*Eligible Datatel client institutions have current maintenance and support agreements.
The Gates Millennium Scholars (GMS), funded by a grant from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, was established in 1999 to provide outstanding low income African American, American Indian/Alaska Natives, Asian Pacific Islander American*, and Hispanic American students with an opportunity to complete an undergraduate college education in any discipline area of interest. Continuing GMS Scholars may request funding for a graduate degree program in one of the following discipline areas: education, engineering, library science, mathematics, public health or science. The goal of GMS is to promote academic excellence by providing thousands of outstanding students, who have significant financial need, the opportunity to reach their full potential.
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation established the initiative to encourage and support students in completing their college education and earning a graduate degree (Masters and/or doctoral degree) in disciplines in which their racial and ethnic groups are currently under represented. The Gates Millennium Scholars award enables young Americans to attend undergraduate and graduate institutions of their choice. In addition to increasing access to higher education for these under represented groups, GMS also provides leadership training. Through participation in a comprehensive leadership development program, Scholars enhance academic and leadership skills, which prepare them to assume important roles in their professions and in their communities.
The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) offers different scholarship programs for Hispanic American Students enrolled full-time in a degree seeking program.
The Linly Heflin Foundation offers scholarships for financial need and academic proficiency to Alabama residents/US citizens/women attending Troy University; minimum ACT score is 22. Applications are available from (205) 871-8171 or Linly Heflin Foundation, 13 Office Park Circle, Suite B, Birmingham, AL 35223 and must be postmarked prior to mid January each year.
The National Law Enforcement and Firefighters Children's Foundation This merit-based award involves a minimum of $1,000 and up to $5,000 post-secondary education scholarship. The number of scholarships awarded depends upon the yield of the endowment. A recipient of this award will receive this scholarship annually for up to four years if the recipient is able to produce documentation that proves he/she maintains a grade point average of 2.5, is registered and maintains a full credit load within each academic year.
The Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation offers scholarships for the son or daughter of a Marine on active duty or in the Reserve or the son or daughter of a former Marines. Applications are available from (800) 292-7777 or Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation, P.O. Box 3008, Princeton, NJ 08543; submission deadline is March 1 for graduating high school seniors and April 15 for all other students.
Sallie Mae has scholarships available. Scholarship guidelines and applications are available at www.thesalliemaefund.org. The deadline for applications is May 31st.
The J. Craig and Page T. Smith Scholarship Foundation has full tuition, room and board scholarships for graduating Alabama high school seniors entering Troy for the fall term. Talbots Women's Scholarship Fund has five $10,000 and fifty $1,000 scholarships for women.

Women's Scholarship from The Network for Professional and Executive Women provides a $1,000 scholarship for women from the Columbus, GA area.
