The Mathematics Program at Troy University prepares students for exciting careers in mathematical, scientific, and technological fields, as well as preparing future teachers—which is our historical role. The Mathematics Program at TROY emphasizes attention to each student and features small classes, quality instruction, effective advising, a departmental Math Club, national mathematics honor society, weekly seminars, a computer lab, and free tutoring.

For students looking for a teaching career, TROY’s Mathematics Education program, where students couple a math major with an Education major, continues to produce excellent and award-winning secondary education teachers. Our graduates are sought after by school districts throughout the region.
In addition to preparing students for successful careers, our mathematics majors are prepared for further study in graduate programs. In addition to the scores of students who go on to earn masters’ degree in Mathematics Education at TROY and other schools, graduates from our math program have gone on to earn Ph.D.’s from universities to include North Carolina State University, Auburn University, University of Alabama Birmingham, University of Houston, and Virginia Tech.
