Dr. Lee received his Ph.D. in philosophy from Duquesne University. His dissertation, entitled “Aesthetic Pedagogy: Kierkegaard and Adorno,” was written under the direction of Dr. Ron Polansky. Prior to becoming a member of the history department, Dr. Lee taught at Kent State University, Westminster College, and Duquesne University. Dr. Lee has developed and taught courses on the history of Western philosophy, Ethics, Logic, Kierkegaard, and Existentialism; and while at Duquesne, he received an award for excellence in teaching. He is currently teaching Ethics and the Modern World, Introduction to Philosophy and World Religions and will be offering a special topics seminar this spring semester on the philosophy of religious and aesthetic experience.

Dr. Lee’s area of specialization is 19th and 20th Century Continental philosophy. His dissertation focused on the intersection in pedagogical methods existing between the religious writings of Søren Kierkegaard and the critical theory of Theodor Adorno. Dr. Lee’s interests extend beyond Continental philosophy to ancient philosophy, philosophy of religion, aesthetics, and phenomenological psychology. Dr. Lee’s current research interests include exploring the philosophical significance of aesthetic and religious experience. He is currently in the process of revising his dissertation for future publication.
